About

1. From time immemorial, human beings have pursued two constant goals: avoiding sorrow and gaining maximum joy. 2. Most people assume that happiness lies in acquiring objects, wealth, and external achievements. 3. At every stage of life, childhood to old age, desires merely evolve, but the pursuit of joy through possessions continues. 4. Society reinforces the belief that more wealth and comfort automatically mean more happiness. 5. Yet experience shows that even the very wealthy are often unhappy, while some with little appear joyful. 6. The same object can produce pleasure in one person and disgust in another, proving that joy does not reside in the object itself. 7. Therefore, happiness cannot be an intrinsic property of external things. 8. Careful reflection reveals that joy and sorrow are determined by the state of one’s mind. 9. A calm and tranquil mind experiences happiness, while an agitated mind experiences sorrow. 10. Thus, true happiness is directly proportional to inner tranquility, not external accumulation.
