About
We often define good and suffering only through external conditions — comfort, wealth, health, and possessions. But Vedānta points us inward: good and suffering are first mental experiences, not physical realities. Through the story of the unhappy king who is told that wearing the shirt of a truly happy man will remove his sorrow — only to discover that the happy man owns no shirt at all — we are guided to a deeper truth: Happiness is not something we wear from outside; it is a state of inner freedom. Today’s reflection invites us to understand suffering at the mental level, and to see that true well-being arises not from changing circumstances, but from changing inner perception.
