About
“Existence Before Thought – The Vedāntic Vision of the Self” (Vedānta establishes existence prior to thinking) Western thought says, “I think, therefore I am.” Vedānta reveals a deeper truth: “I am, therefore I can think.” Existence (Sat) is the foundation of all life — pulsating equally in plants, animals, and humans. Yet, in the human being alone, this existence is expressed through a fully developed intellect, capable of self-reflection and self-inquiry. This is not just a capacity — it is a boon. Today’s reflection invites us to pause, contemplate the beauty of the Self, and consciously use this gift of intellect to turn inward — from thought to Being, from noise to stillness, from mind to Self. This is the true purpose of being human. This is the sacred direction of Ātma-Chintanam. From Avaraṇa (I don’t know the Truth), through Adhyāropa (I know wrongly), towards Advaita-jñāna (I know rightly). This process is called Ātma-Chintanam — Self-reflection.
