About
“When hurt, forgive and forget. Then the mind will be peaceful.” — Pujya Swami Chinmayananda Hurt is not merely an event outside us. It becomes a disturbance within the mind when we hold on to it, replay it and nourish resentment. In this talk, we explore Guruji’s simple yet profound advice: forgive, forget and regain the peace of the mind. As students and sādhakas of Vedānta, we take this still deeper through Karma Yoga. We perform every action to the best of our ability, surrender the results to Bhagavān, and accept whatever comes as prasāda. If someone responds in a way that hurts us, why should we continue carrying that hurt? Forgiveness is not weakness. It is freedom from the ego’s insistence that “things should have happened according to me.” Forgetting does not mean erasing the past, but releasing its emotional hold over the present. When the ego insists, the mind remains disturbed. When the ego releases, peace returns. As Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda beautifully reminds us: “When ego leaves, God enters.” A simple Guruji quote thus becomes a profound sādhana: Do your best. Surrender the result. Accept what comes as prasāda. Forgive. Let go. And allow the mind to be peaceful. Hari Aum Tat Sat!
