Guruji’s profound words, “We need to belong to Him, then He belongs to us,” point to the essence of bhakti and śaraṇāgati. Through Devakī, Akrūra, Uddhava, the Gopīs, Draupadī and Arjuna, we see different expressions of belonging to Bhagavān. When we surrender our ego and choose the Lord over what He can give us, He becomes our refuge, guide, strength and intimate presence. “He belongs to us” is not possession, but the beautiful intimacy born of complete surrender: I am His, therefore He is mine.
