About

‘You can never waste time. You waste yourself’. Day 239 began with the question: “Who is this ‘You’?” When Guruji says, “You can never waste time. You waste yourself,” who is this ‘You’ he is referring to? Vedanta takes us from the individual Jīva, identified with the Body–Mind–Intellect, towards the deeper enquiry into our true nature. Day 240 turned our attention to Time - Kāla. We explored Kāla, Yuga, Manvantara and Kalpa, all belonging to the realm of Jagat. Time governs the changing world, while that which knows the changing world remains untouched by time. And Day 241 brings the two together: “You waste yourself.” Time cannot be wasted-it continues to move according to its own order. What can be wasted is the precious human opportunity: remaining so absorbed in the Jīva, the Jagat and their endless activities that we forget the purpose of human life-to discover the timeless Self. Thus, the three days become one enquiry: Who is ‘You’? What is Time? And how do we waste ourselves? From the Jīva who experiences time, to the Jagat that unfolds in time, Vedanta finally points us towards the Ātman, which is beyond time. Kālātraye’pi tiṣṭhatīti Ātmā - That which remains in all three periods of time is Ātmā. This also gives Day 241 a strong concluding message: We do not lose time; we lose the opportunity to know who we truly are. Hari aum!
