About
In this concluding and most profound teaching of the Bhagavad Gītā, Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa gives Arjuna the essence of the entire scripture - complete surrender to the Divine. सर्वधर्मान् परित्यज्य मामेकं शरणं व्रज। अहं त्वां सर्वपापेभ्यो मोक्षयिष्यामि मा शुचः॥ १८.६६॥ Sarva-dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja ahaṁ tvāṁ sarva-pāpebhyo mokṣayiṣyāmi mā śucaḥ. The Lord teaches that after gaining the right understanding through knowledge, performing one’s duties with the right attitude, and purifying the mind, the seeker must finally surrender the ego and take refuge in the Supreme Reality alone. This is not a call to abandon responsibilities, but to give up the false identification of “I am the doer” and recognise the Divine as the ultimate support. The promise of Bhagavān is complete - freedom from sorrow, fear, and bondage. This verse is the culmination of the journey from confusion to clarity, from “I don’t know the truth” (Avaraṇa) to right knowledge (Advaita-jñāna), where the seeker rests in the truth of the Self. Hari aum Tat Sat.
