About
The great war of Kurukṣetra, known as the Mahābhārata, was largely the result of the vanity of the blind king Dhṛtarāṣṭra, his attachment, bias, and blind love for his son Duryodhana. His inability to stand for Dharma became the seed of destruction for the entire Kuru dynasty. Arjuna, though one of the greatest warriors of all time, faced repeated inner struggles throughout his life that often prevented him from fully expressing his greatness. On the eve of the battle, a deeply disturbing message and the emotional weight of fighting against his own family, teachers, and loved ones shook him completely. Standing in the battlefield, Arjuna became overwhelmed with sorrow, confusion, and moral weakness. His mind collapsed into grief and helplessness. This state of despondency and inner conflict forms the essence of Chapter 1 of the Bhagavad Gītā - Arjuna Viṣāda Yoga, the Yoga of Arjuna’s Despair. Tomorrow, Ch. 2. Hari aum!
