About
In today’s talk, we continue our Vedāntic inquiry into the true nature of the Self using the method of neti, neti - “not this, not this.” Drawing from the Muṇḍaka Upaniṣad, we reflect on the Self as self-resplendent (svayaṃ-prakāśa), formless (amūrtaḥ), all-pervading, and beyond the body, mind, and even the causal state. We examine how, in daily life, we unknowingly identify with the body, prāṇa, mind, and intellect - forming our sense of individuality (ahaṅkāra). Through Ātma-Anātma Viveka (discrimination between Self and not-Self), we begin to see clearly: * The body is constantly changing * I am the knower of these changes * Therefore, I am not the body The mantra declares: amūrtaḥ - I am formless. The body has form. Hence, I am different from the body. This understanding marks the first step in dis-identification from the Gross Body (Sthūla Śarīra). Tomorrow, we continue with the Subtle Body. Hari aum!
